A Philadelphia native, Chris started programming and writing at age eight. Her after school hobby of computers and programming evolved into a passion that would last a lifetime. Her love for writing and computers reflected favorably in her grades at the Albert M. Greenfield Elementary School. Chris’ creative writing won awards with the Concerned Black Men Organization, Philadelphia’s Junior Achievement Program, and Philadelphia’s NAACP Chapter.
At 15, Chris landed a part-time job at the University City Science Center, and later transitioned to The Ben Franklin Technology Center. As a mentee of the Chief Technology Officer, she learned the foundations of computer networking and Windows’ operating system. BFTC helped to forge her skills for managing technology projects, and facilitated an early exposure to business development, entrepreneur resources, and the Internet.
Graduating at 17 from Gwynedd-Mercy Academy, excelling in computers, science, and math. She enrolled in Temple University, School of HPERD majoring in Community Education in 1988. Under the wing of Temple Professor, and Olympic Champion, Dr. Nikki Franke, Chris showed diverse talent as the Manager of Temple University’s Womens Fencing Team, and as a budding Community Educator.
At 24, Chris plunged into technology consulting full-time, programming web applications and designing web sites for Fortune 500 and Fortune 1000 companies in the US and UK. As a consultant, her experience credits include Hewlett-Packard, DuPont, and MBNA.
Now in her 30-something years, Chris is taking the internet business world by storm with focus on the Small Business sector. A motivational speaker who infuses her audience with hope, determination, and self-esteem to have a sound “Mind, Body and Business”, Chris uses her unique perspectives and personal stories to help others get ahead in the world of online business. Her first book, entitled “Work the Web!”, advises business owners and entrepreneurs how to get “beyond the point of pretty pages”, and will make its debut in Fall 2009.
Well-respected as an industry expert, Chris can often be found in magazines, business publications, and web sites around the globe offering her views on topics involving web business. To name a few, Chris has appeared in Black Enterprise, on Forbes.com, on Comcast Cable TV, as well as a host of independent radio networks and business-focused web sites. Locally, Chris is a radio personality on Philadelphia’s 900AM WURD, with co-host Chuck Stewart. She is often a guest on business radio programs, engaging in on-air discussions about internet business.
In all that she does, Chris’ enthusiasm and energetic perspectives about web business entrepreneurship is contagious, and there’s no question she’s one of the most progressive Web Business Professionals of our time.
