(Below is a peek at the Foreword of the book, written by Sonya Donaldson)

About two years ago, while doing research for a magazine article, I stumbled upon the name Chris Curtis. We agreed to an interview and scheduled time to talk. Nothing unusual there. But what started out as a typical 30-minute phone interview about doing business on the Web, evolved into a two-hour conversation about all things Internet: domains, branding, effective design, and search engine optimization—among many topics. Over the course of a few months, Chris and I kept in touch, engaging in long conversations about the importance of technology for business and our mutual desire to empower entrepreneurs to succeed and not merely survive.

What I have discovered in Chris is someone who is knowledgeable, passionate, and committed to ensuring that entrepreneurs and business owners gain access to the tools they need to succeed in a competitive and increasingly complex world. Chris’ focus is on steering entrepreneurs to the resources they need, ensuring that these tools are cost-effective (often free) and make sense for them. One of the things that I have grown to admire about Chris is her ability to incorporate technology with the practicalities of running a business. And she does not let entrepreneurs off the hook: Chris is adamant that the Internet cannot—and should not—be a substitute for good, old-fashioned business sense. As a business owner, you are the boss. It is up to you to “work it”. It is imperative that today’s entrepreneurs develop strategies, market their business, prioritize, know their customers and clients, and develop backup plans. And most importantly, know when they need help and ask for it.

There’s more, but you’ll have to secure a copy of the book to see it!
